Ashton Freund has been a lawyer at our office since 2016. After articling with us for a year, she was called to the bar in September of 2017. Though as a child her dream job was to be a marine biologist or a police officer in the K-9 Unit, Ashton attended UofW shortly after graduating from Collège Beliveau. She began university with the intent of becoming a PhysEd teacher, thus studying Kinesiology. Eventually she pivoted and attended UofM where she became a Juris Doctor in Law.

Back in high school and university, Ashton was an avid basketball player, who even played on the boys’ varsity team. Yes, the boys’ team. One of Ashton’s fondest memories from that season was when she blocked a 3-pointer that her male opponent intended to score.  Though she has since retired from basketball, she continues to enjoy competitive sports as a spectator - especially cheering on the Winnipeg Jets and Winnipeg Blue Bombers! While back in the day, Ashton would be happy to pick up a good book, after far too much reading in law school, now she would sooner choose to find a good television series to watch.
